About 20 people from over the UK came to Kings Cross area on Friday 8 July for an afternoon of workshops on setting up a housing co-operative, being held during Co-operatives Fortnight. Some were intending to set up a housing co-op and some are involved with a group that is doing so. The event covered in some detail the issues housing co-ops may face in incorporating, raising finance, finding and purchasing a building - and keeping your group together along the way. Workshops were facilitated by members of existing housing co-ops including Leslie from LCHC. The event is supported by Housing Justice and Radical Routes. The day was a great success from the feedback and it is hoped that we can follow on from this first meeting to something more long term in the autumn.
